Barsebäck Kraft AB (BKAB) has extended its partnership with ISS Sweden. The service extension contract for the nuclear power plant in Barsebäck runs until 2015.
ISS Sweden will continue in the role of integrated services supplier at the nuclear power plant in Barsebäck. The new agreement further consolidates ISS’s unique position as the sole Facility Management (FM) supplier in the Swedish nuclear power industry. ISS currently supplies services at all four nuclear power plants in Sweden.
ISS has been BKAB’s service partner since 2008, providing industrial and radiological sanitation services as well as canteen, hotel management, cleaning, waste management, conference and freight management services. ISS also provides a number of services in restricted areas such as surface, component and material decontamination as well as management and active waste sorting, overhead crane lifting operations, dangerous goods transportation as well as freight loading and unloading services for the transport vessels Sigyn and Sigrid.
Thomas Hagentoft, Facility Services Manager at Barsebäck Kraft AB, said:
– For 2015, we have chosen to continue down the very rewarding and fulfilling path that was established via our partnership with ISS. Their extensive experience as services supplier in the nuclear power industry was obviously a deciding factor in our supplier selection process.
Stefan Svensson, Industry Manager at ISS, said:
– We are very proud of the fact that Barsebäck has chosen to continue the partnership with ISS as supplier of services with one single integrated solution. Via a very open and close collaborative effort, we have managed to customise the delivery and thereby established a successful partnership,
Reactor 1 at Barsebäck was closed in 1999, followed by Reactor 2 in 2005. Barsebäck is the first commercial nuclear power plant to be demolished in Sweden. BKAB are now responsible for service operations by managing the nuclear plant and by planning for a safe and efficient execution of the planned demolition.
